BPALS for trade

I sorted through my BPAL collection (that's Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab for those of you not in the know), and weeded out the scents I tried once and didn't like. They're all full 5ml bottles (unless otherwise noted), used only once or twice. I'll trade them for comics/books, really good mix tapes, vegan cook books, horror/criterion collection/otherwise interesting dvds, art, or other groovy stuff. Whatever doesn't get traded, I'll put up on ebay. Someday.

Here's the list:

Asian Horror Sick Day!

I was not feeling too well yesterday, so I stayed home, ate homemade miso soup, and watched some K-Horror (that's Korean horror for the non-douchebaggy of you).  Fixed me right up. Here's what I watched:

Oldboy, which I've heard  Spielberg of all people is remaking with WILL GODDAMN SMITH (Why, Hollywood?  Why do you enjoy hurting me?), and...

A Tale Of Two Sisters, which I had seen before and consider it to be one of my favorite films of all time.  I hear this is ALSO being remade, and I'm guessing they'll probably put Megan Fox and Hannah Montana in it, and some robots, and get Michael Bay to direct this fuckery.

A Tale Of Two Sisters is a jewel.  It is stunning both visually and emotionally.  It's also one of the very, very, very few movies I've ever seen that has legitimately scared the LIVING SHIT out of me.  It gets inside you and haunts you for weeks and weeks.  I insist you check it out, if you are a fan of the genre at all.

I enjoyed Oldboy, but I can't say it will go on my list of favorites.  It didn't really grab me, as I've seen a zillion movies just like it, but it was fun to watch and was visually cool as hell.  If you like Ichi the Killer (which I liked better) and Tarentino, you'll like Oldboy.

I also have Lady Vengeance sitting on top of my DVD player, but have yet to watch it.  Once again, I hear they are remaking this as well (DAMN YOU!), so I'd better watch it quickly.

Green deliciousness

I am currently obsessed with green smoothies.

They are awesome for several reasons:

1) You're getting pretty much all of your daily fruits and veggies in one shot, so you can eat a huge ass bowl of Soy Delicious at 2 AM and not feel too bad about it.

2)  You can make them out of pretty much whatever the hell is in your fridge/freezer/garden, so they're great for using up last bits of things.

3)  They are usually always delicious, unless you do something totally stupid like that one time I blended kale with wheat germ, spirulina, molasses, and orange juice.  I have no idea what the hell I was thinking.

I usually make a different one every morning, and the one I made this morning was the best one so far:

some pineapple, including core

a very ripe nectarine, pit removed

1/4 cup goji berries

14/ cup dried white mulberries

1 1/2 cup sliced cucumber

a HUGE pile of greens (spinach, chard, endive, arugula, some carrot greens)

filtered water

ice cubes

DAMN, it was tasty, and I felt awesome after I drank it.

Teese and pie

I got a tube of cheddar flavored Teese in the mail yesterday, and I am in LOVE.

I just prepared and devoured this:

It's slices of sun dried tomato polenta panfried with Teese and cooking spray.  It was completely amazing.  Try this at home.

While I'm sharing food porn pictures, here's a pie I made last week:

I sort of improvised it with what I had lying around. It contains the following:

-Great Northern beans

-mashed firm tofu

-pine nuts

-kale

-garlic

-lemon juice

-fresh basil

-nutritional yeast

-sea salt

-white pepper

It was really, really good.

That's all for now.  I'm gonna go knit and watch Star Trek now.

Greetings/Vita Mix

Hallo.

My name's Christin.  I'll be blogging here about my various obsessions, especially my obsession with vegan cooking.

Let me tell you a bit about myself:  I'm 23, I run a yarn shop with my mom, I'm an artist, and I listen to a shit ton of eighties music, mainly of the 4AD/new wave/death rock/psychobilly varieties.  I'm also a nerd for:

 British comedy

Vertigo comic books

David Lynch

Mystery Science Theater 3000

and Neil Gaiman.

I've been vegan for a little over a year.  I'm a Taurus, my favorite color is black, and I drink insane amounts of peppermint tea.

Anyway, I got a Vita Mix yesterday, and I'm terrifyingly obsessed with it.  I've been blending fucking EVERYTHING!  Yesterday I made hummus, cashew butter, potato soup, and a green smoothie, all in one afternoon..  I'm drunk with power, I tell you.

Hopefully I'll post some Vita Mix food porn soon.  Stay tuned!
